Before founding Safer Group, I worked as a consultant specialising in rapid deployable technology within the security industry.
During this time, I identified a critical gap in the market: the provision of rapid deployable security towers was dominated by a “Plant Hire” mentality that simply asked customers, “How many do you want and for how long?”
Recognising the potential for a service-oriented approach that leveraged technology to enhance delivery, I envisioned a new kind of security business. Thus, Safer Group was born.
The Early Days
Starting Safer Group was anything but easy. In the beginning, it was just me. I handled everything—from cold calling potential clients and surveying sites to writing proposals and chasing payment for the invoices.
Many nights were spent monitoring alarms, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Despite the challenges and limited financial resources, our dedication to genuinely caring for our clients' security needs fueled our growth. This unwavering commitment to service excellence quickly set us apart from larger, but less personable competitors.
A Space That Inspires Innovation
In 2018, as we grew to a team of six, the choice of our first office in Paisley wasn't just about finding space—it was about creating an environment that inspired us daily.
We designed an office that not only functioned well but also felt right. From dark grey walls and LED lighting tunnels at reception to fingerprint readers and blue LEDs behind screens, our workspace reflected the innovative spirit of Safer Group. We found our identity.
Our focus on complex fixed systems evolved with the development of the Safer POD® S1 - A project which actually started in 2018 - a wireless, fully autonomous, rapidly deployed security unit that epitomised our approach to smart, efficient security solutions.
Despite the initial challenges in product design and manufacturing costs, by 2022, with the help of a key manufacturing partner, we were able to maintain our design ethos and bring the Safer POD® S1 to market. This product set new industry standards and marked a significant milestone as we expanded our reach across Europe.
With the launch of additional products like the Safer POD® S4, S7, F1, and F7 in 2023, we continued to raise the bar. Our products, equipped with advanced features like thermal detection, became standard-bearers in the industry, redefining what clients expect from security technology.
In 2024, we opened our new headquarters in Port Glasgow, reinforcing our commitment to quality and innovation. With 70 employees and growing, Safer Group stands as a leader in the security sector, continually attracting the industry's most talented individuals.
